One more crawfish boil/shrimp related question.

I have 5 lbs of shrimp I want to do with the crawfish. Can I just put them in a laundry bag and thrown them in with like a minute or two left then take out during soaking. Have y’all done this TIA

Not sure I'd even put them in before cutting the fire.

I agree, add them to the soak and check them every few minutes. Shrimp do NOT take long to cook.

Take your crawfish out, bring the water back to a boil. When the water comes to a boil add your shrimp, when they start to float cut the fire and soak them till the sink. Takes about 10 minutes.

This. They will be ready in about 10 min of soaking. You will see the shell seperate from the meat and they are done.

Just curious, how do y'all normally cook shrimp? I have only done crawfish but prefer eating shrimp.

I consider myself a pretty good crawfish boiler, but a very novice shrimp boiler. The few times that I’ve boiled shrimp, it seems like shrimp always need extra salt added to the boil (I never add extra salt to my crawfish boil). Take that for what it’s worth

No. Do not do this.
Add your shrimp after you cut the fire for the crawfish and let the soak/steam/cook while you’re soaking the crawfish

they need time to soak to get the flavor but you have to be careful its not too hot or they keep cooking and start to get mushy if overcooked.
as stated, as soon as its a rolling boil, shut the fire off and drop them in, only takes a minute or two and they are cooked. then take them out and set aside, when waters cools enough you can stick your hand in and hold it there without burning drop the shrimp back in and let soak for 20-30 minutes to get really good flavor.
if shrimp are big or you dont have a lot then dehead them first and it helps the seasoning get into them more.
