has anyone ever done this?
Hodson and Guidry, mid 80s.

Brennan needs some meaningful time
Such a stupid narrative. There is absolutely no reason to give both Burrow and Brennan "meaningful" snaps. This isn't a Perrilloux/Flynn situation. Burrow needs to take every snap unless he's injured or we are up or down 30 in the second half. End of story. If Brennan isn't ready to go next year it's on him and moreso the staff for not getting him ready in practice and the film room.

Coach O flat out said burrow would run more because of Brennans health

We aren't competing for the playoffs without Burrow so I think that will be revisited.
Burrow may want to run more but the coach has to protect the player from himself sometimes. It's for the good of the team that they keep him as healthy as possible.

Depends, if hes having very good success throwing the ball and we are winning, i would expect designed runs and read options to slow down throughout the season to help keep him healthy.
However if we are winning because of the running and read options, he may have to keep doing that which will be risky as the season progresses. Hes a big kid tho, should be able to last

I would think it'll depend on the opponent and/or how the game is unfolding. If we're playing a lesser opponent or if we jump up big on somebody I don't see him running much. If it is a big time opponent or a tight ball game I see Q runs being used quite a bit. By the end of the year I wouldn't be shocked if his carries averaged out to around 12 a game.
He averaged roughly 9 a game last year.
Edited because I forgot to take out sacks with rushes per game average last year.

This keeps getting brought up - hopefully he won't be running any more. He's not super elusive, no elite speed and he doesn't mind contact. Those things can all lead to him getting hurt.
That said, 5-6 runs a game to keep the defense off balance is a good thing. Our RB talent level will be upgraded this year with 2 of the top 10 RB in the country coming in. They may take time to get up to D1 speed but we'll have better options to hand off to vs. last year.

And Perriloux.
Giving him those reps when the game was still on the line had me scratching my head, especially when Flynn had just led the team on its 1st productive drive.
But it sure paid off in the SEC championship game that year. He played great and the backup won the game and saved the National Championship.
Time will tell what Stevie E has in store for Brennan this year, but I think he gets more reps than most think.

Won't be needing to run much when he's throwing for 5k and 40 TDs.
