The area around Six Flags can be kind of sketchy, especially one exit east of the park. My son and I went last summer on a Wednesday, and we didn't experience anything all that bad. A group of teenagers trying to break in line was the worst thing we saw. Douglasville a few miles west of the park is a decent area to stay.

Batman was the only ride that had a long line the day we went. We waited about 45 minutes the first time we rode it, and went back later and the line was over an hour so we skipped it.

Wednesday in July? I'm hoping a Monday and Tuesday in July will have reasonable crowds.

I went in the late 1990s and didn't notice a safety issue.

I might take an earlier poster's advice and go to that Holiday Inn he posted in his link.
