Not to mention companies like GM have taken huge bail outs that had nothing at all to do with EVs

I don't like it across the board. Tesla's existence depends on those credits.
Nissan, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc. don't.

Remind me of the quote,
Tesla gets ridiculed because they dare to be brave and put their dreams to reality. They pushed the industry in a direction they resisted for years. Now every auto manufacturer makes an electric vehicle. Auto industry dabbled in it before but they never stuck it out. GM had an EV back in 1990.
In the 2000s, during all the environmental outrage and high gas prices, they played with hybrids.
It wasn't until Tesla really started to gain ground that you see respected auto manufacturers like Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Etc making legitimate, full size, all electric luxury vehicles.
They didn't want to invest but it always takes dreamers and impractical innovators like Musk to say, "frick this, we're doing it!"
I figured you macho baws would respect such moxie.
