I live in a pretty conservative county but have to work around quite a many libs. I don't bother talking politics with them because there is no mind more closed than todays lib, which is ironic because that is the exact opposite of what a liberal should be.

You don’t think most conservatives are equally as convinced of the righteousness of their own positions?

Currently in same boat as you. I am from Alabama (going back in 2 weeks THANK YOU GOD) and have been working in the north for two years now. Almost everybody I work with hates trump and gets bent out of shape over things in the news on a daily basis. They have never asked me but they know I voted for Trump and I will again in 2020.

The whole abortion ban thing came up at work and they asked me what I thought. I said no comment because work is no place for that bull shite but these people just can't help themselves. A few of them have a severe case of TDS. It is a real thing folks.

My immediate family are ultra conservative, so much so, that I don't discuss politics with them. I will just nod when my dad goes on his rants. All of my friends are about like me which are moderate conservatives.

But I do have one cousin who has always been strange. Like really strange. But we've always gotten along. I don't discuss politics with her, and I have had to unfriend her on facebook around the time of the elections. Read this gem from her/his facebook account.

Pride is still hard for me. I finally found a space where I feel safe and comfortable, and then Pulse happened and the last presidential election happened, and have felt far less safe since. And now I’m moving to a new old town and have no clue whether there is room for my non-binary pansexual person.

---------------------------------------------------------

No my wife is still friends with her on facebook, and every few days or weeks, she'll be like "what the frick is wrong with your cousin? She's weird as frick." Understand my wife is naive as hell and pays zero attention to politics and anything outside of her immediate little world of kids, work, home. So she isn't up to date on the 8 million genders, tranny's, whatever. My cousin is obviously one of or all of the 8 million genders. And she is def suffering from TDS.

I think most conservatives believe in what is best for our country and it's legal, honest citizens.

I think most liberals believe in what is best for liberal ideology.

Interesting because I have the opposite view.

Any chance our perceptions of these things are colored by which side we agree with and which side we disagree with? Or is it just the other guys with the problem?

What’s amazing is that you can’t see outside yourself enough to realize your way isn’t the only legitimate one.

You’re a complete prisoner of your own perspective. It’s hard to watch.

It may not be the only legitimate one, but the liberal way is not one. Our country's liberal leaders have been enemies of the State since at least Tom Daschle.

You just said it was “amazing” at me asserting that most people, regardless of political affiliation, have the best interests of the country at heart.

What else is there to unpack?

They say the same thing about conservatives in liberal echo chambers.

It’s a big problem in our country.

allowing trannies to read stories to children or make presentations in schools is whack

I agree with this to an extent. Adults not related to a child shouldn’t be allowed to project their personal choices on to children. But if it’s just a transgender author or volunteer or really any other situation where the point isn’t to talk about transgenderism, I don’t see a problem with allowing them to read stories or talk to kids any different from any other guest speaker
