Just got a kayak to fish behind the camp in grand isle. What all do I need to keep me from getting a ticket. Thanks

Life jacket on board
I’m pretty sure you have to have a 360 white light at night

Not if you dont want others fishing your spot. Pay the ticket keep your secret spot.

Subtle camp brag.
The only overall requirement right now is having PFD on board. There is also a required white light (visible at one mile) requirement for kayaking before or after safe light.
I think kayak laws should/could change soon with the number of kayakers in Louisiana.

its the same as a boat but unless im mistaken kayaks and canoes require you always wear a vest

Kayak fishing tournaments have it in their tournament rules that a PFD has to be worn at all times though.

Incorrect and dumb as all get out IMO.

Here's another interesting thing I just learned recently...
If you have an inflatable PFD, some of them have labels on the inside that say "MUST BE WORN". If you have an inflatable on your kayak/boat and it says that on it, it's only legal if you are wearing it. Not all inflatables say this though.

Inflatables only count when worn, motor boat or yak.

About to have to buy a bunch of new PFDs if I buy this new boat Friday, so I may get one of those for the yaks.
