Ugly up there. Over the last couple of decades I think we (our policy) truly believed that we could work with the Chinese (cheap and productive labor) to advance all interests. However, China (Marxist Ideology) essentially does recognize Private/Individual Rights, as does our Constitutional (God-given Individual Rights) principles...and therein is the rub, and conflict.
The Chinese have used their trading largesse to build up their Military in ways that will be a threat, and their island-building and militarization of the Sea of China pretty much defines their intent.
So, McConnell and many now find themselves in an uncomfortable scenario. IMO, given McConnell's superior work re the Supreme Court nominations, I'll give him a pass, with a clean up of future economic/lobbying ties to China. "Don't muzzle the ox that treads the corn".
