This. Even with the slightest issue you'll get dropped if it happens in a rental car. Happened to me. I was not at fault, still dropped. State Farm, btw.
If you're in town where you live because your vehicle is in the shop,I can kinda see not buying the Hertz insurance.
but if you're out of town in an unfamiliar city, get the max insurances every time.
ETA: American Express/Chase/Credit card "rental insurance" is only liability for THEM, or something shady and misleading like that.... and does zero for you. They wont help at all.
