fricking.
THIS.
There is ZERO excuse for a decent Neverwhere adaptation/series at this point.

I was very happy with the first episode. Now I just have to parcel it out.

I didn't even realize Neverwhere was a novelization if a show.
That’s incredible. I cant think of another novel that completely out classes the show it was based on.

In fairness, he wrote the script for the TV miniseries, too, so he was upping his own game.

He was basically writing the novel in parallel with the television script. Anything they told him he couldn't put into the show went into the novel.

My wife just finished this last night, and absolutely loved it. The acting was terrific and the humor was solid throughout. We both wished there would be more, but glad that it was written the way it was.
Also, neither of us have read the book, so I'll be curious to hear from more people who have to see if it lived up to their expectations.

Do they cover the entire story in just the 6 episodes?

Novelization s of movies or shows isnt uncommon at all.
I am Saying I cant Thing of a Novel that was based on a show/movie that completely left the show/movie behind.

Finished this yesterday. I haven't read the book either but I really enjoyed it. I read somewhere this is a one and done, does anyone know more about that?

The novel was a collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.
While they did some work on the sequel/2nd novel, it never got that far along and Terry Pratchett has since passed away.
Wikipedia- Possible Sequel
They did incorporated some of the sequel elements into the series though. But unless Gaiman wants to write a sequel, this will be it sadly.

The one time I cringed was SPOILERS
the "shut up" scene, where the kid silences his friends.
They could have done better than what they did, effects-wise.

I had high hopes for the series because I'm a giant Doctor Who nerd and my wife and I really enjoyed it. I would love to see some of the same folks involved take a run at doing a Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy adaptation -- Tennant would make a great Zaphod (he could borrow half of Crowley's wardrobe), shame Michael Sheen is probably a little too old to play Arthur or Ford.

Agreed.

Still a Spoiler...
The kid choosing to end War - by killing it with a flaming sword. OK.

They would've done it long ago but never got the schedule for it.
Gaiman is also pretty honest that Good Omens is at least 75% Pratchett as he got pulled away by other projects at times.

I'll definitely agree with that. That was probably the most awkward/my least favorite part of the series.

Same here. The kids didn't do a great job of portraying emotions in this scene either. I'm just nitpicking at this point though

Here's another SPOILER comment:
Having not read the book, I kinda liked the verbal exchange at the end between Satan and the kid.
"Where's my son, the rebel?"; I immediately thought
well, rebellion does run in the family. I guess daddy should have taken that into consideration.
I wish they had more of a focus on that angle, maybe the kid pointing things out, before he put an end to things.

Ineffable plans.
Is it really rebellion when it's determined?
