My Maytag topload washer is stopping in the middle of the wash cycle.

Anyone have any advice or experience on repairing these bad boys? It’s model mvwc565fw1 and we start the cycle(any cycle) and the washer starts, locks the lid and starts to agitate and somewhere along the line it just stops mid cycle.
We find our clothes sopping wet and the washer doesn’t finish the cycle. We have to do the “spin and drain” cycle to be able to transfer them to the dryer. I’m sure they’re only halfass washed.
Long story short...
-maytag mvwc565fw1 top load washer won’t finish a wash cycle.
-clothes are soaking wet
-the washer is level, balanced and not overloaded
Any ideas my home and garden brethren?

Put it in diagnostic mode to see if it returns a fault code. It’ll probably tell you what you already know, which is the basket is stuck or not reaching the required rpm.
At least from that point you can look up videos to repair that fault code.

Put this on the OT for Napoleon. He’ll diagnose for you.
If unfixable I’ll be the first to say buy a Speed Queen.
And I remember Hunter Gomez had that great delivery. Almost like a shotput.

I had a somewhat similar problem with an LG washer.
It wouldn't spin out the water. Ultimately, I swapped out the main circuit board. After swapping, I could tell the whole cycle was screwed up. It seemed to be giving the drain pump and other components like half power.

At the risk of sounding like a Luddite this is why mechanical switches are >>>==>>>>>>>> than electronic boards.
They are made to handle the shaking and vibrations that will tear circuit board solders and sensitive electronics apart over time.
I picked up a virtually free mid 2000s Whirlpool set someone dumped on Craigslist at Napoleon's suggestion, paid $8 for a set of dog ears and in 30 minutes had it working like new and haven't looked back since.
We have 7 people in our house and it seems the washer runs constantly and this thing is a beast.
Plus since you can set the water level you can run a cycle in about 20 minutes.

Thanks for the suggestions/advice! I’ll be back at some point this weekend with what I found after running the diagnostic/checking the time.
Happy Memorial Day weekend all!

maybe coins under the impeller causing a motor fault code. dont just go out and replace a part because you record a fault code they can be deceiving. Does it drain the water while stopped, and are any lights flashing after the cycle is suspended.

I had that exact issue and it was actually an easy fix in my situation, so might be worth a shot trying before continuing down another path.
My drain hose was too far down the drain pipe, basically siphoning the water from my washing machine straight to the drain pipe. Pulled the hose completely out, put it back in about 5 inches and clamped it in place.
That fixed my issue, hope it's as easy of a fix for you.

It drains the standing water but doesnt soon the water out of the clothes. I will certainly be exploring all options before spending money. Hoping for an easy fix!
