The US has been a Socialist country for around a 100 years. Most people are just in denial or don’t understand what socialism means.
Once a society gets large and complex a certain amount of "socialism" becomes absolutely necessary for things to function.

At least if one defines socialism as shared resources and costs. The military, the highway system, agencies like the TVA, social security, the banking system, etc. all are shared and by the wide definition, socialist.

I would posit a greater percentage of Americans than 40 favors some amount of greater socialism than we currently have. Especially in realm of healthcare. Our current system with raging out of control costs needs to be reformed.

All advanced countries outside of the USA have some form of universal healthcare. Not one country that has taken up universal healthcare has gone back to the dog eat dog system the USA has.

In other areas, such as all of the retail sector, capitalism works far better.

America is a mix of capitalism and socialism. The Scandinavian countries are pretty much similar expect you have larger socialist programs but calling the countries socialist is plain ignorance

That’s actually NOT the definition of socialism. Socialism is government control
of traditionally private entities, like health insurance companies.

OTOH - government exercising public functions like public roads, police, and military is NOT socialism. That’s just government.

No, it doesn't.

No they're not.

Ya, the over 40% who don't pay taxes. There's a fricking shocker.

I have healthcare. Your healthcare isn't my fricking problem.

Not as advanced as we'd think. They don't even pay their fair share of military spending. Speaking to you, NATO.
