Bottom line LSU needs a hitting coach.

A complete retooling of the assistants is what's needed.

The fact that LSU doesn’t pay its hitting coach is laughable.
Mainieri needs to get off of his lazy arse and hire someone who can coach and recruit. Ochinko as an unpaid hitting coach teamed with Cain as recruiting coordinator is the worst coaching tag team at LSU since Malveto.

But the rant told us all season that Cain is irreplaceable because of the #1 class LSU just signed and before him we couldn’t get good kids here to play baseball........

If he can coach pitchers, then fine. If not, everybody has to go.
I dont want to dump Mainieri just now. For all his faults he's been pretty damned successful. But the program is clearly stagnating, so you have to make changes. Start with the assistants, and if that doesn't work you go from there.

I think Cain is a great recruiter but he should have no business doing any type of coaching on the offensive side. I’d sacrifice a great recruiter for a good hitting coach. Our name alone is enough to sell a lot of recruits to come play for LSU
