We’ve had a HDHP for about 2 years now. It really opened my eyes to how terrible the medical billing world and charge codes can be.

Thankfully, my spouse is in the medical field and understands the codes and their agreements with our insurer.

The entire system is broken.

Quite honestly, this is probably the biggest reason we haven't moved to an HDHP. I know it's cheaper and there are great benefits with an HSA.

But the knowledge of what my co-pays will be ahead of time (even if they are billed months after the fact) basically allows me to say, hey, medical billing is someone else's problem.
