Winning the lottery in 2004 didn't help the Magic keep T-Mac and winning the lottery tonight won't help the Pelicans keep AD. If anything, a trade is a lot more likely with the Lakers moving up to #4. An offer of Ingram, Ball, and the #4 overall pick would be a pretty damn good package for a guy who's going to bounce in one year.

Nothing. AD will leave and then Zion will leave when he can. Pelicans are the most forgettable franchise in the NBA.

So what good will a one year rental do for the NYY?

If we've learned anything this season, its that Lebron is on the downhill side of his career and a terrible teammate. A year from now it will be painfully obvious. I get AD wanting to be a star in LA, but NY is going to be the big free agent destination now.

quote:

Anthony Davis is not interested in remaining in New Orleans, despite the Pelicans landing the No. 1 overall pick on Tuesday. AD wants to be competing for a championship, and the 26-year-old is not interested in mentoring Zion Williamson or going through the process of another rebuild. He's expressed interest in re-signing with the Knicks, Clippers, Bucks and Lakers should he land there, but Boston can probably put together the most attractive package for AD. The one problem there is AD has explicitly said he doesn't want to go to Boston, but a guy like Davis is certainly worth the risk as he'll be on the books through 2020 either way.

he could stay and form a nice little trio with Zion and Jrue... or

we could deal him to the Lakers for the #4, Kuzma, Ingram, Hart, etc.... would give us a decent young core of players to fit around Zion and Jrue, and possibly Culver, Hunter, or Garland... or

we could deal him to the Knicks for the #3, bringing Knox, Smith Jr, Robinson, Trier, etc to put w/ Zion and Jrue, while also bringing Barrett into the options mentioned above... or

we could deal him to the Celtics, who have 3 first round picks (14, 20, 22) to package along with Tatum, Rozier, Brown, and Smart, in some combination, to add to Zion and Jrue....

i like the Celtics trade, even if we don't get another high pick this year... Jrue, Brown, Tatum, Zion, and Randle... with Rozier, Payton, Okafor, etc off the bench...

of course keeping him we'd have Payton, Jrue, Zion, Davis, and Randle... i think they'd play him at the 3 with AD staying b/c you sorta have a log jam at PF and C if not... putting the best 5 out there would have him at the 3, where physically he'd dominate smaller wings in the league, creating mismatches all over the court for teams trying to decide who to guard between him, AD, and Randle...
