rt3 called it nearly 2 years ago. The mad queen is here.

I'm baffled people didn't see this coming. How dumb are these real life hodors?

Someone posted in the long watch thread no one called it until ep.3 or ep.4 of S8. A quick google search shows people have been openly talking about it since S7. rt3 was just the first post I found with "mad queen".

Right? Both the books and the show have been displaying her development into madness for quite a while now. It was subtle at first, but it was clear.

I don’t think it’s that people didn’t see it coming. It just felt unnecessarily rushed.

The end would have been so much better with a full 10 episode season.

It's not like people felt like it wasn't a possibility. Most people just think they didn't set it up enough. You got some glimpses here and there, but it was a huge jump last night. At best, it was a big stretch to be believable.

Rushed rushed rushed. Buzzword of the season so far. Bonus points if you can use it in a sentence with "lazy".

Wouldn't give too much credit since the "Every time a Targaryen is born, the Gods flip a coin" line was in season two.

So kind of like real life mass murderers? You don't think some fairly normal kid showing glimpses of problems then shoots up a school never happens? That bitch has been going crazy since she first burned someone alive with a dragon.

Put it this way - had Dany not torched the city, most viewers would have been shocked. Now she does it and people didn't see it coming? It's like I'm taking crazy pills.

Yeah, it's just a buzzword. There are no legitimate complaints with the quality of the show dropping. It's all just groupthink and it's cool to hate the show now.

Yeah, it’s been discussed at length. It was entirely plausible, but it was way too rushed in this episode.

It caught everyone off guard because she had already won the battle. The Lannisters were throwing down their swords. She could have walked into the Red Keep.

My issue isn't that she went mad, it's WHEN she went mad. There's no reason to go mad when everyone is surrendering.

What would have made more sense is for her to take control, she's walking down the street to view her new subjects and they're shouting for Jon or they're throwing shite at her, or they're shouting "foreign whore" or "Dothraki Bitch" at her. Then, she has a reason to torch everyone.

What she did was akin to the Nazis in The Ukraine in WWII. The Ukrainians were being oppressed by the Soviets. The Nazis roll in and the Ukrainians immediately greet them as liberators. So, the Nazis then start oppressing the Ukrainians and slaughtering civilians, so rather than join the Nazis to help them fight the Soviets, the Ukrainians rebel and greatly slow the Nazi advance into the Caucuses region of Russia.

It just didn't make any sense. Her wanting to be feared since she couldn't inspire love was a solid motivation, but she needed a better spark once she had already won the battle to turn around and torch everything.

I still think the people were f&%ked no matter what as those green explosions indicated that Cersie had wired the city to blow no matter what. Dany was going to be Queen of the Ashes no matter what.

Kind of like if a person shows signs here and there and then decides to show up at school (or movie theater, concert, etc.) with a gun and shoot the place up. That never happens in real life

People that shoot up schools don’t tend to have many devoted followers.
