Paul just threw the team under the bus on nola.com.
He had the preseason number one team.
He had the number one recruiting class.
He had 3 kids come back who should/could have gone pro.
AND HE THROWS THE KIDS UNDER THE BUS!
He takes no responsibility.
Time for him to retire.

You must have read a different article than the one I read. Could you please quote the part where Mainieri ran over “the team” with a bus? And a link?

Eta: This is what I read on nola.com:
quote:

But I’m proud of a lot of the guys on the team. My gosh, they gave it everything they had.
Where’s the bus?

“The walk to leadoff the inning is inexcusable, you know?" Mainieri said. "You gotta have the poise to make an adjustment on the mound in the heat of the moment. He just kept yanking balls in the other batters box.”

Is that throwing “the team” under the bus?

I happen to agree with him. You don’t?

Kids, especially of that caliber, need to hear the harsh truth sonetimes. However, i do agree with some of the "throwing under the bus" comnents. As a head coach and a leader he needs to take nore ownership of this being his team and the fact the he has dropped that ball all year. He doesnt show much responsibility as the head of the team!!

Retire? Fire his arse and be done with him. Good riddance. We could hire a wet noodle and get a more motivated team.

Well who put Fontenot out there and left him out there. It was your boy Maineri.

Was good ole Paul at Bama last week?
Did he not see the same Fontenot walk
3 straight and almost blow a game to Bama?

Really?

I get trying to work a guy through his struggles but today probably further complicates Fontenot’s mental issues and most probably is done being our go to closer. Just can’t trust him if he can’t trust himself

Old Paul is senile and continues to prove that fact weekly. He has a team with several entitled recruits and is playing teams with a full roster of baseball players. Depth is catching up to old Paul. No left handed pitching for one is inexcusable. But we have lsu e and catholic boy moffitt in a crunch. How many top pitchers in the country would come here. Many. We settle for moffitt.

I am big on team leadership.....at the games, I do not see many vocal leaders in the dugout. Re Moffitt, he may be the vocal team leader.....who got on their butt after the loss to Southern? Moffitt. Who led the first base circle Friday night vs. Ole Miss? Moffitt.
