Lots of people seem to think we did not use herbicides prior to GMO plants allowed the use of glyphosate on them. That simply is not true.
It would be very bad environmentally to end the use of GMOs and glyphosate. That would force farmers back to the herbicides of the seventies and eighties which were very persistent in the environment.
DDT was taken off the market in the USA because it was so persistent in the environment.
