This looks like a massively updated version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms from NES & SNES.

KOEI made some bad arse historical simulators back in the day.

Civ 5 is amazing. Lots of good mods out there as well.

This thread is checking all the boxes. Civ II and Rome: Total War are easily 4k to 5k gaming hours for me over the years. Literal time sinks.

I played most of the sequels of those games, too.

I made the mistake of watching some AoEII vids on YouTube.... downloaded it again last week.... the biggest time sink of all time.

Last one came out on PS4 and PC.

It's far and away the best technically. It runs super well.

From gameplay standpoint, it plays similarly to other games in that time period. It also has an incredibly improved diplomacy system as well some additional systems with food several unique faction actions. They change the way you play a good bit and I've enjoyed the changes so far.

I have a coop campaign as Cao Cao and a solo campaign as Ma Teng. They've been vastly different experiences, both fun.

Anyone else still playing? love this game.

Playing as Wei, Im glad i got to pick up Xu Huang, Lu Bu and Zhang Liao off the waiver wire because they were some of my favorites from dynasty warriors.

You like these RTS games better than Age of Empires and Command and Conquer (Red Alert) series?

AoE and C&C are currently being remastered

Is this a Civ type game or more Halo Wars type game? I’ve never played it but the trailers look cool.

Is there any video I can watch to explain the Total War: Three Kingdoms RTS mode? Particularly 1 vs 1? I dont really have interest in anything but RTS vs humans.

I put him pretty high up in my court and has been in the 80 or 90s in satisfaction so I didn't really have a problem with him.

Both.

You have an overworld map like Civ where all diplomacy and economy is done, but combat is like a large RTS battle with armies like Halo Wars, Age of Empires, Command & Conquer, etc.

You can do custom battles online with humans. That's just pure combat fights against one another (or 2v2,etc)

There's also mutliplayer campaigns where you play on the same map with another person. This can be cooperatively or competitively.

Neither. It's a grand TBS game with battles.
