Help. I’ve been hacked

Someone has hacked into my Microsoft Account through my sons Xbox while he was buying something for Minecraft. Now they have changed the Email address and it show Email doesn’t exist. They bought a $99 dollar game from the Microsoft store and it was credited back the next day ( I guess they realized it was a fraud) Microsoft was able to cancel the credit card that was on the account. Account recovery got me to fill out a form and send it back to them. Said I would hear back within 24-48 hours. It’s been three days now and I haven’t heard anything. They also got into an old Amazon account and tried to get into a Facebook account.
What should I do now?

Considering today is Monday perhaps that meant 24-48 business hours?

What they typically try is "I know the password higgysmalls@email.com used for his XBox account, now I'll try those same credentials everywhere else." Since you know you've been hacked, change the passwords for every account you can think of that you have. It might be good to look into a password manager like Last Pass.
Don't be lazy here. The last thing you want is for them to hack into some website you don't think is important that maybe asked you some security questions you forgot about. Then they use those security questions to hack into something else you just changed the password on. Speaking of which, if you had security questions in your Microsoft account and you can access that from your account settings, you should assume the hackers now have this info too.

change every password to every account you can think of. turn on MFA for anything that offers it as well. lock your credit accounts. sounds extreme but its too easy not to these days.

This is the first thing you need to do now. When hackers figure out your password & e-mail, they will try that combination on everything in hopes of catching someone being lazy. Always great to have slightly different passwords (if you don't have a password manager) for all of your accounts. That way, if one thing is hacked, they won't be able to easily access others.

Yep that’s how they got into the other two accounts. Luckily all of my financials and the amazon account that has about 4 cards on it is under my wife’s name.

I’m pretty good with computers but I don’t know how far they can go with this. Can they see what is on my desktop computer. Cause I got some tax returns on there, that have SSNs and whatnot

Which brings another good point...MAKE SURE you change your wireless carrier's log-in info and update your security questions/answers NOW! Also, tell your carrier that your password may have been compromised. Some carriers will flag your account in order to make any account changes harder to make (i.e. vigorous identification measures when swapping devices/SIMs or porting out numbers).
Hackers have been known to steal wireless account info in order to port out your number or clone your SIM. They do this in order to receive confirmation texts from banks and other financial institutions that use MFA to confirm identities. So get to your bank and wireless carrier first, then worry about stuff like Amazon, eBay, etc.

In the long run, your kid will be better for it.
