Are you once going to ignore what they said about coming to the decision to have Arya kill the Night King?
We came to the decision 3 years ago (Season 7)
We didn't want it to be Jon because Jon is always the hero.
If GRMM told them how to kill off a character (who isn't even in his books) why would they say that?

Take that how you want, though, a later quote concerning Jon does sound more like they decided that rather than "knew" that in order to be unexpected.
