WBB: Tasha Butts leaving?

Rumor is she's joining Nell Fortner at Georgia Tech. If true, it's fairly surprising since she's been with Fargas when she was Caldwell at UCLA. I find it hard to believe she'll be paid more or will have higher position. Overall, this would be pretty bad for the program since Butts has always been considered hard working and well liked by club coaches and the players.
Fargas came close to getting the Tennessee job so maybe Butts felt it was finally time to move on.

I don’t think she was actually that close to getting the job.

Well, according to the Tennessee faithful, it was between Fargas and Harper. Regardless, it did show she had interest in the job.

That’s hard to believe with her resume.

We can only hope. I still haven't figured out what value she lends to the bench.

Might as well, the gang will be gone next year
And that is not good news as Butts was literally the only valuable assistant on staff and Nikkis girl.

They just wanted a former player. It was closer Cara Lawson than Fargas

Tennessee literally did a "they are one of us" hires
If you removed that they played at Tennessee under Summitt, they never would have gotten the job. There have been plenty of mid major coaches who were more qualified. Its 100% political
they actually narrowed the field to only women candidates for the job. They literally didn't want a male coach to "outshine" what Summitt did.

I'm in Nashville, don't think they seriously considered Nikki.

So you're saying Tech's got big Butts and you cannot lie?

Is this Seymour’s sister?

She was on their actual list but towards the bottom. They wanted a female coach with the Tennessee connection. They never got to interviewing her and another candidate since Harper accepted the job. Lawson was the second choice apparently.

Butts is from Georgia? She was offered a position with Joni Taylor when she took over for UGA. I guess she’s realizing it’s time to leave Nikki. I wonder if Nikki would bring Warlick in? I heard the money was a issue with Nikki getting the Tennessee job.

If Tasha is leaving this should be a final warning sign to admin that something is off with Nikki. Tasha is one of Nikki's girls.
Everyone else sees it, we've seen the poor recruiting classes, the mass transfers of players, the other respected assistants jumping ship.
It's time, fire Nikki.

She just decided that she was better suited for a life in the kitchen.

I am somewhat disappointed that Fargus is back for another year.
I believe that because she has a decent recruiting class helped her. I don't know what pull she has with the administration or what powerful backers she has. The Wade situation worked in her favor IMO.
I hope that if she does not get back to the tournament this year she is gone. If she cannot retain her best players and have another good recruiting class for the following year she should be gone.
I hope she proves me wrong and LSU women's basketball gets back to the top of the SEC. I hope we make consistent long runs in the NCAA tournament. If she can't get us there, we need a change.
This should be her last chance IMO.

Yes.

I think this definitely happens if LSU doesn't make the tournament. Next year's team stands a chance to be really good. Mitchell and Aifuwa are the best returning post combo in the league.

I think it is....especially if we end up with a new AD
