You act like there isn’t any validity to their stated reason for not using air tankers. The French were concerned that massive amounts of water would further the damage or cause the weakened structure to collapse.

Given that it is one of the most historically and culturally important buildings in France, and that survival of the structure itself was paramount to putting the flames out..... it’s really not an unreasonable response.

How much time did the waste by waiting on planes? Rapid fire spreading is a bigger threat than water.

If you don't put the fire out the structure will NOT survive. They should have immediately started foaming it with aerial trucks.
