Wade thought it was damning enough to where he wasn’t comfortable to talk to them, so much so he missed the NCAA tournament. To downplay it as some fabricated media story is fricking ignorant.

Wade’s reluctance to talk is all you need to justify the suspension. LSU played it right. Anyone that isn’t an emotional homer LSU fan has agreed.

Sorry Lester, your comments fit your agenda. LSU categorically blew this entire thing. They knew of the wire taps and did not prepare, then they backed their head basketball coach into a corner and were shocked by the response from fans. It was amateur hour, no matter how you try to defend it.

Not a Homer and not emotional, but I disagree that they played it right.

They didn't have to have the NCAA present for Wade to talk to Alleva. (Read NCAA bylaws). Alleva should have met with Wade first and then involved NCAA if needed, or if the NCAA requested. No bylaw states NCAA has the right to sit in on member college meetings with personnel.

I know, I know. Wade refused to meet. Some reports say Wade was ready to meet with Alleva and then he backed out. Some say he backed out when Alleva changed who would be present. That would matter, but no one knows the truth about this. It just comes down to which narrative you want to believe.

I do agree LSU had the right to suspend him once he refused to meet, regardless of why he refused. For this, I think they had no choice.

They did not "play it right" when they started releasing statements disparaging Wade in the week after they suspended him. That was a total blunder on Alleva's part. He should have stuck to the original statement they released and said nothing more than, "we are ready to meet with Coach Wade." Their behavior was childish.

Wade's second statement was horrible as well where he demanded to coach. He totally contradicted his own statement when he was suspended.

I understand the University had to take action before all the facts are in, but I would ask everyone to withhold their judgment until the record is complete. To my players and coaches, I support you 100%, and I will be with you in spirit as the season progresses. Your best response to this is to narrow your focus and make sure the last part of the season is the strongest part!

He said he understood they had to take action and then a few days later demanded they allow him to coach. C'mon man.

Lastly, they reinstate him. But, instead of taking the road of reconciliation and togetherness, they had to throw in a paragraph to chastise him again.

So, yes, they played it right to suspend him.

But just about everything else they did was amateur hour.
