I have defended Mathis all season and I still like him when it comes to blocking past balls, yes I know he has let some by but what catcher doesn't when you get the balls in the dirt that he does... But I don't recall seeing somebody struggle at the plate as much as he does.. however Garza struggles at the plate too.... IDK what other options we got, I heard Willis caught in the fall and did dang good but he is still recouping.... Mathis is just god awful at the plate
