I'm a basketball and baseball season ticket holder from Lafayette. The first thing I did this year when I received my ticket packets was put all Friday games on sale on stubhub.

The reason...No way am I crossing the Miss River Bridge eastbound on a Friday.

When I decide to skip out on those games, Baton Rouge is missing out on potential hotel, dinner and gas purchases. If my ticket does not sell, then LSU misses out on my spending at the concessions stand. When I do attend games, I typically upgrade my seats via the app. That's more money toward athletics.

My point, there is no way I'm the only person west of the bridge who thinks this way. I would imagine there are people west of the bridge who don't buy tickets at all b.c. of the bridge.

Should LSU be more involved in the push for a new bridge, or is it too political for the university to be involved?

I'm one of those people. It's not just the Miss River bridge, it's the drive from Orange, TX to BR on I-10. I attend one football game a season and try to catch a baseball game also. I have family from TX/LA border to N.O. and it is such a pain to drive on I-10 to see them. I get on 190 or Hwy90 most of the time now. Longer drive, but at least it is moving. LSU campus has great memories, so I gotta have my Tiger time.

It's not great, but it really isn't that bad to the point where you have to miss games.

How do you know the person buying the ticket already lives in BR? Maybe, they are traveling from out of town too

No, but I’m sure any bridge or road widening project will be opposed by a vocal group of LSU students and professors calling the project racist.

So LSU got their money from you. They don't care if you place the tickets on StubHub, burn them or flush them down the toilet.

im not sure who all is involved in the decisions but it's obvious to all that the traffic issue in BR is pretty unparalleled and is slowly diminishing away the ability to have a more fully functional society.

other cities along rivers have many more bridges and more bridge lanes per capita. Quite a few of them also have pretty decent mass transit.

baton rouge desperately needs another bridge and accompanying highway route around the city.

i cant say i blame you for avoiding friday games. it is phenomenally bad at times on friday - even with no accidents. it's not uncommon for transit time from prairieville/gonzales area of I-1o to port allen to be over 90 minutes, which is really absurd.

They want it pushed as far away from campus as possible.

LOL...just how much do you think your concessions for one game add up to? And do you honestly think LSU gives a frick about your missed hotel/motel stay for 8-10 Fridays? AND, do you honestly think the state or Feds give a shite about your travel predicament for maybe 8 -10 games spread across only four months in the spring?
Wake the frick up dude! How you get there and where you stay is YOUR problem! Move east of the river or STFU about your intolerable Friday travel schedule! Your measly few bucks ain't shite compared to the logistics of building a new bridge and if You don't buy tickets, someone else will!

Nope...IMO, there is no reason at all that LSU atheletics should have anything at all to do with such civil/political matters and vice versa.

There will never be a new bridge without the state gas tax being adjusted for inflation since the last time it was raised 40 years ago.

Write that down, because its the truth. We all know that our State Government has a history of misappropriating taxes, but there will NEVER be a new bridge without that tax.

Simple solution....... Put a damn bridge in where the ferry is. Simply bypass BR completely, and can hit River Road to get to LSU facilities. An improved road straight down from Lobdell can get this done easily. Straight shot to I-12 also. Makes us West of the river get to NO easier

I share the frustration of traveling to BR from West of the river especially on Fridays. However, I don't think it would be appropriate for LSU to be involved in anyway regarding the building of a new bridge beyond agreeing that it would be beneficial to have one.

I live west of the river. I've had LSU Baseball season tickets for 34 years. I don't let the I-10 bridge backup keep me from going to games. I use the old bridge (US 190), I-110-S to the Govt. St. exit and then River Road to the Box. If I-110-S has any degree of backup in the downtown area, I exit I-110-S at the Chippewa St. exit and use 4 laned Chippewa St. to River Road past downtown and on to the stadium. Changing your route to the Old Bridge (US 190) and then the using the logistics described above once in BR should add approximately 10-15mins. to your drive time for the extra miles and do wonders for your disposition.
