The intentional foul. If you grab a player intentionally in the first quarter it is called as so.
If you grab a player intentionally in the final minute it is called as a simple personal.

I agree 100% with this and wonder why the hell nobody ever seems to discuss it. If intentional fouls were called correctly you wouldn’t have these annoying arse ends of games that drag on forever either.

If a player is trying to advance a ball up the court and is grabbed that is a flagrant foul. It is excessive and not a basketball play.

Players intentionally foul to stop fast breaks all the time.
Players intentionally foul bad free throw shooters in the middle of games.
Flagrant fouls are reserved for hard, excessive fouls that could potentially injure a player.

You shouldn’t have any possibility of reward for committing a foul. That is bullshite.
The only comparable I can think of is football where a dB will holds a reciever when they are beat. But even then it’s 15 yards and a first down for the offense.

Fouling at the end is a desperation move like an onside kick.

Basketball at all levels is basically a waste of 3 hours.
It mostly just comes down to the last few minutes.
