Wolfenstein: Young Blood on Switch bought at retail will have a case with a download code.

No cartridge.
I don't own a Switch and I get all my games on Steam. But wtf is the point of releasing a physical cased "game" that only has a code and no cartridge?

So the kids who can't access digital stores can still buy the game, while saving costs by not having to press discs.

They might have parental access passwords.... I did not say they don't have access to the internet. The method of payment is also a hurdle to lots of kids under 26

So they would still need their parent's password in order to download the game.
Are you seeing the needless middle step?

Not if they have a redeemable code, no. The money has already changed hands, so the download is not restricted by the parental controls.
Once Jimmy gets home from Wal Mart after knocking off from his rent a cop job at the local YMCA, he won't have to yell at his mom to come downstairs and put the password in for her credit card to work.

Are you guys sure Bethesda is capable of releasing an Elder Scrolls game that won't suck?

So damn, nintnedo. Thanks for helping Jimmy get around the already pain in the arse parental control settings you have.
Doesn't sound like their reasoning if you really think about it.

What the hell does this have to do with anything?
For the record, I used to buy some PC games like this back in the day. It's nothing new and not a problem, but I don't think shoe's reasoning checks out.

It is really just to save money in disc costs, but it does bring the added benefit of the other shite I added. Like any good marketer, I thought how they would spin it to be a favor for the consumer and not a cost cutting, margin expanding move.
And Jimmy is a fricking incel, so he will find a way to complain about it.

Cost cutting is the only reason I can see for this. For it to be a way to get around parental controls, that seems like a shite storm nintendo isn't about. They're still doing friend codes for crying out loud. I though those were to protect the little ones from the ghouls?

This is stupid and I don't know why you are defending it. Just put a parental lock on buying M rated games in the store. Boom, done. No blood and guts for little Jimmy.

Because some people like physical cases and a lot of people don't like putting their credit card info on these online marketplaces. There's a reason every electronics store has download codes/shop credit for sale.
This specific case though, is due to the price of the Switch carts. In order for a cart large enough to fit the full size of the game, it costs something like $8-12/cart, which is absurd pricing.

So my grandma can buy me a fricking download code with a check and not have to deal with dang fangled technology that is online purchases.
