Screens sound like a good idea, but in my experience are just as much work, and look worse. The leaves just pile up on top of the screen. So the water still won't flow into the gutter AND it looks bad because now you can see the leaves. Not sure how bad your problem is, but you have 2 options IMO. 1. deal with it and constantly clean out the gutters. 2. remove the gutters, refinish your boxing, and add a rock gutter with a landscape edging where water will fall from roof.
