Buttigieg: "Hypocrisy" of Evangelical Christians Supporting Trump Is "Unbelievable"

I wonder if the gay wonder boy knows the US is not a giant church
quote:
Well, it's something that really frustrates me because the hypocrisy is unbelievable. Here, you have somebody who not only acts in a way that is not consistent with anything that I hear in scripture or in church, where it's about lifting up the least among us and taking care of strangers, which is another word for immigrants. And making sure that you're focusing your effort on the poor. But also personally, how you're supposed to conduct yourself. Not chest thumping look-at-me-ism, but humbling yourself before others. Foot washing is one of the central images in the New Testament. And we see the diametric opposite of that in this presidency. I think there was perhaps a cynical process where he decided to, for example, begin to pretend to be pro-life and govern accordingly. Which was good enough to bring many Evangelicals over to his side. But even on the version of Christianity that you hear from the religious right, which is about sexual ethics, I can't believe that somebody who was caught writing hush money checks to adult film actresses is somebody they should be lifting up as the kind of person you want to be leading this nation.

He doesn't give a damn about Christianity, and in fact probably is repulsed by it. He writes this in hopes of shaming change among Trump supporters.

Jesus also said to obey mans laws. He, who is with out sin, cast the first stone.

Yea, I'm sure shitting on Trump supporters will convince them to come to your side, Pete.
Pathetic

Lol at any democrat liberal trying to use Christianity against Christians.

It's not so much them supporting trump wholeheartedly. It's more about the only legit alternative being Democrats, and the fact that Democrats utilize "shaming Christians" as one of their platforms.
So basically Democrats are so horrible, that a guy that has been divorced and remarried multiple times, looks amazing by comparison.

It’s not hypocritical for supporting a political figure who is broadly on the same side of you regarding key social and cultural issues
The idea that an evangelical has to vote for a pro abortion, pro trans, anti Israel nominee because trump banged a porn star is absurd.
We do not elect presidents to be role models

Absolutely true. Democrats simply do not get this.

Everything he said is absolutely correct. I love him. I've switched from Be to to him after hearing him speak. Just sent him $500. He won't win the primary this time but I've no doubt he will be a force in the future. The GOP should take note of him. Unfortunately reading all the juvenile slurs about him just confirms how I (rightly) view most conservatives. Dismissing his potential is going to a grave error for the GOP. Just look at what he's accomplished in South Bend. It's almost unbelievable.

He is a gutless coward for groveling about saying “all lives matter”

So Beto isn't the new JFK now?

Nothing like a butt frick boy trying to lecture others about religion. Seriously, all the these left wing fruitcakes can go frick themselves. Even better if they would just shut the hell up while they are at it.

It is so hard to keep up ain’t it?

Toddy, I don’t think you understand the difference between political support and generally looking on somebody favorably

This little cockholster scares me. He could def peel away enough Bernie support to allow Harris to win.

The central message is accept Jesus as your Savior.

from the religious right, which is about sexual ethics
This is your sin focus and is the reason for the statements condemning the believers because you cannot handle your sin. Tell you what kind one, I cannot handle my sin either and is why I choose to accept the Lord and Savior and you can too.
If you feel convicted by the Holy Spirit of hurting Jesus and God by continuing to live in sin then that is a good thing. The Holy Spirit is trying to move you to live a Godly way and not a worldly way.
I am not perfect and not self righteous in my being to point fingers. You are at this time some what different as you feel the need to publicly point fingers.
Your frustration comes from with in and not from what is done outside of your own realm. Seek a Godly life and find peace and contentment. Stop trying to use Biblical content to justify an unGodly existence. I thank God every day for my Salvation and new life. You can too.
Peace

Christians support trump because the outcomes he is pushing for align with the outcomes we support in many instances.
