Heading there in May to visit some friends. Will have some solo time on my hands the first day. Is downtown nice and safe enough to walk around? Thinking about breweries, museums, maybe rock HOF. Any tips would be appreciated.

Drive over to Cedar Point, pay for the fast pass and have a great time.

(You may not need the fast pass if school is still in I imagine)

We had a great time in Cleveland in April a few years ago. Clean, cheap and seemed safe. Everything is downtown within walking distance. Saw a Cavs playoff game, an Indians game and the Rock n Roll Museum all in three days. Stayed at the Hilton downtown and also had a few good meals as well downtown but cant remember the names, Maybe one was the Chop House?

They also have an "little Italy" and a Polish district but about 15 minutes from downtown. Good Italian bakery there.

Probably the least crowded downtown I have been to even with the 2 games that weekend.

In May definitely try for an Indians game. There are a few breweries you should definitely go to Great Lakes Brewery in the Ohio City neighborhood. There are a few other other breweries in that area too like Market Garden and Nano Brew. Very walkable area and Townhall is an extremely popular restaurant/ bar.

Downtown has some really nice restaurants as well so check out E. 4th street and the surrounding area for good eats plus the casino is right around the corner as well. If you’re into the club scene check out West 6th street but only go to Barley House or Dive Bar because the others are not as nice.

There is also the Rock and Roll Hall downtown by the lake. If you’re into water go to Great Lakes Watersports down in the Flats (if they are open- they are seasonal.)

Let me know if you have any other questions I grew up there haha

Downtown is okay, but it's pretty much dead after 8-9 pm. It's much safer than Bourbon, but still use your best judgment.

Check out the Rock Hall. If you're into classical music, check out the Cleveland Orchestra (if they're in season, IDK). You can also look at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History and the Cleveland Museum of Art.

great dining, bar scene downtown and flats, especially on game days and thurs-sat..E 4th/6th streets, flats area, tremont, ohio city, little Italy/Murray hill all have plenty food drink and nightlife. Old office buildings and warehouses downtown have been turned into condo's and apartments over the last 8 years and is a young hipster haven.

Downtown is generally safe to walk around. There's also a free trolley service that runs a few different routes around downtown. LINK

A few breweries downtown worth noting: Masthead and Southern Tier. As other have said, Great Lakes is good as well and only a quick train or Uber trip away from downtown.

Check out an Indians game if they're in town. Good pre-game atmosphere in the bars around the stadium. Otherwise, downtown at night will be pretty dead.
