Seat belt laws save money for insurance. If it wasn’t a law and enforced, far less people would wear them and far more would be hurt more in accidents thus driving up the cost of insurance. People that don’t wear seatbelts don’t give a damn about insurance and liability generally, do not being covered by insurance in an accident is not going to motivate them to see them.

Yes, insurance, for which we all pay.
Also, uninsured/underinsured accident victims' medical bills are paid by us - plus rehab, long-term care, disability etc
It's economic.

And that is the problem. If it can be proven that you didn't wear a seat belt, insurance should not be required to pay for your extra expenses for injuries. Maybe it is that way...idk. Since it's a law, then insurance should be able to pay more or less based on wearing a seat belt. If you're found to not be wearing a seat belt, then they should jack your rates up and not everyone else.
