Trying to help a friend in need.

A fellow New Orleans firefighter had his car stolen outside the firehouse this morning, in beautiful New Orleans East.
Some fine citizen took his veichle with all his belongings. Including his babyseat, work clothes, bedding, phone, computer, etc.
He had an older model car that was paid for, and only carried liability. He has two young boys, one of which has brain cancer, so he is always strapped with bills on bills.
I’m trying to help, anyway I can, by sharing this. If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.

Did his ole lady kick him out the house? Just seems strange all that was in his car?

Does he not have insurance? Savings, etc?
I’ve made the proper percautions to get through a situation like this plus more. Why should I ‘help out’ someone who fails to be responsible?

No offense to your baw, but he’s an idiot keeping all that shite in his car for all to see especially in NOLA East of all places.
No sympathy here sorry.

He’s a firefighter. We carrying most of our life with us. We’re here 24-72 hours at a time.

Not to undermine the situation but it reminded me of when Al Bundy lost his car, thought it was stolen and claimed he had the Mona Lisa and a Monet in the trunk to get more insurance.

It was during shift change. He was coming into work for the next 72hours.

he probably brought his own bedding for his shifts at the firehouse, it was what my dad did
he always had sheets and stuff in his truck and the first thing he did when getting on shift was make his bed

Maybe because he’s constantly helping people. It was worth a shot. Can’t assume everyone cares though.

At the car wash. It was just clean and he didn’t recognize it.

Sales 101...if you don’t ask, the answer is always no.
Welcome to the sales world...I will donate, because you took the courage to ask.
Best to your friend.

Before the Internet, firefighters used to beg for money the old fashioned way. With a boot at an intersection. Stop being lazy and get out there.

Actually those boot shakes are for MDA kids and Red Cross for families who lose everything. Firefighters get ZERO of that money. Pass that along.

Ok...So why leave his computer and phone in the car?

And he gets good pay and benefits to sit on his arse at the station and play PlayStation for 72 hours most of the time

First priority is to get your gear on the pump and check in with your captain. Be ready to go, not have your personal belongings set up. We made a medical call at 7:01am and his car was stolen.
I understand most don’t get how it works, but I can assure you I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t care about the guy.
