Never played a From Software game before because I assume they are too hard for me
Should I give sekiro a try?

It’s probably the best one to start with

Agreed. I think it's the easiest one I've played (Bloodborne, Dark Souls 1). Though maybe I've just learned the style now. I think it's incredibly forgiving. You can just spam block.

Just beat Isshin on ng+5 without Kuro’s charm. Took over 50 attempts. It was probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done

See, I think it's less forgiving than those because you can't just grind levels and then come back and dominate a boss. The only way to get stronger is by beating bosses and mini-bosses. It forces you to get gud and not just outlevel everything.
Owl (Father) is one of the toughest fights I've done. Great Ape gave me troubles the first time through, but was cake on all subsequent playthroughs.
The fights in this game are just so much fun.
Gah. Now I want to playthrough again.

I don't mean it in a negative way. It's a blast. I am playing now actually. I got to fountainhead palace about an hour or two ago. Just ran into the great karp. Really have been loving this game.

Doing an almost 3 year necro bump... but I picked this game up instead of Elden Ring - I just beat Owl (Father) last night and then proceeded to 2 try to Corrupted Monk Super glad I did Owl (Father) before Corrupted Monk. I've seen online a lot of people complaining about the "true" corrupted Monk and with the things I learned on Owl (Father) it just kinda clicked, and the Monk just ended up being a lot easier I think.
I know I only have like 2-3 more "real" bosses left and maybe a mini boss or two, I'm kinda sad to see it finishing up. This has been my favorite From Software game since Bloodborne and honestly might have surpasses BB in gameplay, BB only beating it now because of the Setting and DLC.
I'm going to save scum to get the 3 endings (I have all of the items needed for all 3 severence endings) and then probably quickly playing through NG+ for the Shura ending.
Been an amazing game, also been fun reading through this thread so long after the fact.

I am about to finish platinum for Elden Ring, which I'll follow up by playing Bloodborne for the first time (started it before ER and haven't finished the first boss off yet). Sekiro will be next after BB. Can't wait.

Sekiro is really special.
TBH I've been a Square fan since Squaresoft and FF6-7, and Chrono Trigger are my top 3 games and have held those spots for a long time.
The FromSoft 2009-2022 run is sick and has made Sekiro/Bloodborne/Elden Ring shuffle up those spots.
Just look at this run (and the timeframe)
2009 - Demon's Souls
2011 - Dark Souls
2014 - Dark Souls II
2015 - Bloodborne
2016 - Dark Souls III
2019 - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
2022 - Elden Ring
All that in 13 years
I wish I could go back in time and play them in that exact order you get to. You are in for a ride. I prob will follow you and finish ER and then back to BB, then Sekiro, I just want that ps5 BB patch dammit.

We never got an update from Lew if he ever beat this game, or even made it past Butterfly, I can just picture Lew trying to beat Butterfly 3 years later and throwing his controller out a window

Oh you know he didn't beat this game. I need an update

Just beat demon of hatred and the final mini boss today... Only the final fight to go. I think I'm going to grind a good bit of experience so I can get all the skills or close to it before starting ng+. Keep my path to platinum simple

Sword Saint down. I think he might be my favorite boss that FROM has created. First phase test Sekiro's version of dodging, 2nd phase test you ability to deflect and get out of the way, 3rd phase test your aggression while also skill checking your greed and how good you have gotten at the Makiri counter, and the 4th stage does the same while adding an attack you have to dodge and one you have to aggressively deflect (in the air).
The entire fight is basically a 4 part skill check to make sure you really learned what FROM wanted you to learn.
Props to FROM for this game, I feel like Elden Ring might feel somewhat is a step back from this once I get into it... as for now, time to blaze through a quick playthrough for me final trophies
P.S: Owl (Father) was the hardest fight to me, and it honestly isn't even close. 4 1/2 hours on that boss alone

Without a doubt. He nearly broke me.
When you necro'd this thread I went back and read through it.
Update - I never got the final trophy for skills. That farm was waaayyy too much of a grind.

These bumps motivated me to start a no charm playthrough.
You play through Sekiro without the charm, you’re gonna have a bad time.

Finally got to the Shura Ending and I'm actually having to study and learn a fight again, really weird after basically 5 hours+ face rolling my way through the game without trying.

Yeah this thread inspired me to start a fresh playthrough on PC this time.
I worried I wouldn't have it anymore, but I've gotten right back into the groove. Reminded why this is one of my top 5 games of all time.
I was worried about the Guardian Ape but I one shot both forms. Honestly, I had the most trouble with the Seven Spears guy at the Resevoir...which is no shock because that was the same the first time I played this game, too.

It's so awesome, you'll change your mind once you start it. The combat is more souls like of course, but the world is just amazing.
