uh, so the cops can swab this 38 year old, send it in as a normal request for a DNA match. Ancestry sends the results pinpointing who the likely mom is, and voila!

How is that NOT opening up their database to the cops, without a warrant?

Did you read the article?

They worked with a company that assists with DNA evidence on cold case files. They were able to get some additional information using the DNA evidence from the killed boy. Then went through the suspected trash to collect dna swabs. Then got a search warrant to swab her mouth and confirmed the match.

They didn’t run a query trough their database.

Can you link to the article you read that was talking about anybody that was 38? Or anything else you said? thanks
