No Foreign bands and no current what passes for rock music.
Also no particular order.
Aerosmith
Van Halen
KISS
Metallica
Alice Cooper
Honorable Mention : GnR in case you don't count Alice as a band.

I obviously borrowed this idea from 2 recent posts, just tossed the U.S. part in it and disallowed current bands.. Thx to original posters.

I have trouble taking Van Halen seriously as a hard rock ban.
Or I just have trouble taking those guys seriously, at all.
Maybe it’s because I was older when they hit it big, but their stuff sounded pretty vanilla to me.
Plus lol at DLR

Good point. That's why I did this thread, for discussions not competitions.

Nirvana is easily a top 5 influential band. You could probably add The Doors to the list too because it seems like everybody goes through a Doors phase when learning about rock music.

Well I have a hard time taking you seriously as a poster so it's a wash in my book.

When they hit it big in 1978, they definitely were a serious rock band. Like most bands did in the 80's they slowly became more pop though...
As far as influential, the inspired a lot of the hair metal movement, even though that's not really how they began.

? Their sound was from another planet compared to what was around at the time they hit the scene. I would say they are a bigger influence than anyone on that list.
And EVH is just below Leo Fender and Les Paul on the list of innovators of the electric guitar.

As far as the indy scene goes, Melvins and Bad Brains are both highly influential. Faith No More is up there as well.

Should I give "Jump" and "Just a Gigolo" another listen?

Jump is a good song with a solid guitar solo. Sorry, not sorry.
And “Just a Gigalo” was a DLR solo cut.

We're talking influential here. These guys laid a lot of the groundwork for the bands named in the OP.
