My parents' house in Shenandoah is for sale. It's 45 years old and has not been updated. Excellent property for someone who flips houses. Are there investors/contractors in Baton Rouge who buy single family dwellings for the purpose of flipping?

Yes, but it will be for a price probably much lower than what you or your parents think the house is worth.

Don’t worry, if you price it right, it will get flipped. The people that do it for a living will only pay you 70% of appraised value at best most likely.

Get a realtor, tell them you want to sell it quickly and they will price accordingly.

Assuming you are having a bit of trouble selling or getting what you think its worth, why not find the most pressing need to be updated and contract it out? Probably the kitchen right? Replace the orange carpet, change out the linoleum for laminate wood, remove the popcorn from the ceilings, get rid of wood walls and accents. You could do a basic arse remodel for not too crazy I bet.

Parents are moving to ATL in two weeks. They are 80+ years old. Not interested in doing anything to the house. They have no problem dropping the price very low. They can’t get the real estate agent to drop the price. I’m trying to feed the agent some names of people who might want the house. It’s listed at 229K and they would be happy with much less. Much less. I would love for them to be able to pull out of the driveway and never have to think about the house again.

Can't get the agent to drop price??

What's up with that? How long has it been on the market?

Umm, the agent works for YOU. Not the other way around. I've never heard of an agent not wanting to lower the price. The lower the price, the quicker they get paid

Yea you are just not telling the agent right. Get them to put it in writing that they want the house price dropped to X. The agent can advise against it but ultimately it’s your parents decision.

Sounds like you need a new agent... I do both flip and am a realtor and may be interested in the house to flip.
