Dude, the administration wants Wade gone. It's about money. They jumped at the opportunity they thought they had to rid themselves of him.

I think it's possible that promises were made to Wade about investing in new facilities with the admin thinking he'd never meet the benchmarks for those investments to be made.
The picture that is emerging seems to indicate that there are other more nefarious motives at play though.
