Check out who the majority purchaser of that stuff is: DoD.
Lobster is one of the few treats soldiers get when deployed (about once every other week). I would guess that’s where the majority of that number is coming from.

Always heard about them but never actually saw them or got one myself... Maybe I was just unlucky but odds are I would have seen one if they were as common as you suggest...

We used to be served this every friday (i think) in kandahar. I thought it was weird and didnt really want lobster when the place stunk like a literal cesspool.

Where the heck did you deploy?
Our "treat" was chicken cordon bleu, a.k.a freedom biscuits.
We got fish every once in a while but it took one sniff to know not to touch it.
