Either one of those is possible if they find proof that smart (and/or others) were paid either through themselves or the trial.

LSU needs to follow Auburn's lead. They did the same thing with Bruce Pearl when everyone said he had to be fired. Nope, he's still coaching and now out of any scrutiny.
Exactly. Don't give them a fricking millimeter. It's their burden to prove.
I will say this though, with LSU's compliance office being run like the KGB, I doubt there is any other evidence available. If a payment was made, the NCAA is going to have a hard time finding something if our own compliance office didn't before this and turn us in already.

"This Is gonna make the Lester Earl probation look like a parking ticket."
Hanny is reaching here. What else besides the no TV/no post season for UK and the death penalty that SMU got was worse than that very cruel spanking the NCAA gave us 20 years ago? I do not see how this punishment will exceed.

They'll do interviews, etc.
You keep saying this like its the damn FBI doing interviews. Who is going to talk to them with any damning evidence? Nobody is obligated to say shite to the NCAA. You think they will use the whole "my word vs yours" method of persecution?

The one fly in the ointment is that now the NCAA can use other records from external sources to penalize teams without doing its own investigation.
SO, it appears as though if Wade admits to wrongdoing, even while being subpoenaed for defense counsel, the NCAA could still use those records to frick us if they wanted.

This has been the narrative all week. I didnt read about about the news till I listened to their show earlier this week. I thought, they fired Wade or even arrested him, the way Hanny was pouting on Wednesday.

Like LSU and Arizona, but leave the meat on the bone for the likes of Duke/UNC/UK/MSU
The NCAA won't touch Duke, UNC, Kentucky, Michigan State, or Kansas. Just like they wouldn't dare go after Alabama in football.

He admits on the phone to offering something. It looks bad and he probably meant that he offered some benefits to the family and sounds like a handler as well but they don’t have any proof of what he offered or if the offer was ever actually handed out. It probably was, don’t get me wrong, but the NCAA would have to prove that payment occurred. LSU doesn’t have to prove the payment didn’t occur. That’s the difference.

The true position to take is somewhere between the media's "condemn Wade to hell and burn him at the stake" and this board's consensus "this is fine" attitude.
It's not a good thing for LSU and LSU fans should have some level of concern about what comes next. But unless and until something concrete comes out, the histrionics over suspending/firing wade are premature.

They may be overreacting, but a few of yall are in denial about the severity of this situation.
