Is it worth moving to Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana or Alabama?

Why is rent so cheap in places like Arkansas and Mississippi?

Would you believe that was my thesis topic?

Let me go pull it out of the attic.

I have lived in lived in several states including La and MS...both were relatively inexpensive and I liked them both. I find that if the people are friendly in an area, I can pretty much find the part(s) of town that make me happy.

Louisiana- Mandeville, Denham, Laffy, Prarieville
Mississippi- Southaven, Olive Branch, Hattiesburg ,or Gulf Coast
Arkansas- Fayetteville or West LR
Alabama- Mobile/Coast or Birmingham

Those should be the only options you consider and I would pick anywhere in Georgia over all of those places

Best part of living in Memphis is cost of living. If you stick to the nicer areas, it’s not too bad crime-wise. I pay a 1050 a month for my 2 bed/2 bath condo on a 15 year mortgage including HOA fees in a great location.

I’ve got a Ruth’s Chris, Capital Grille, Fleming’s, and Seasons 52 within 5 minutes and those are not places you would see in shitty areas.

Definitely not my first choice of where I’d live but if cost of living is your number one priority, it’s a worth a shot.

Louisiana is a great place to live if you have a job. The biggest problem with LA is its stagnant economy. The reason for that stagnant economy is its corrupt imbecile government at every level.

Hattiesburg is decent. Not sure why you left it off your list.
