"The emergency declaration to build the wall sets a bad precedent"

I don't get this line of thinking for conservative opposition to the emergency order.
1. What the hell was DACA? The precedent has already been set by Odumba.
2. You think when dems take back power they are going to play by the rules?

Logical arguments dont mean anything to someone who claims moral superiority over a large group of people

This is why Ted Cruz et. al lost the GOP primary
I am all for being conservative as possible on every issue, but sometimes your "muh principles" need to be reigned in a bit

One overreaching action by a power hungry president is a stain on the history of American governance to be admonished for the rest of our country’s existence. Two such presidents from opposite parties following the same path is a new status quo, one virtually impossible to reverse.
Obama’s sins do not excuse our own. That simple.

Democrats NEVER play by the rules. They set them and watch the spineless republicans deal with the consequences

Why can we declare a national emergency to aid other countries but when it comes to protecting our own it's "overreaching and unconstitutional?"
Conservatism is focused on ideas, and Progressives on the left are more focused on power. Plain and simple

This. If you don't get elected, you can't do shite. You don't have to lie, but logical, well thought out ideas and plans goes right over the head of the majority of voters. Trump understands this. People need catch phrases and simple to understand concepts. Then get your arse out to town halls and get more detailed and specific with the groups that can comprehend it and interested in listening.

Congress has given the President too much power.
I agree it sets a bad precedent and I agree it is Congress's fault this is even an issue.
The other bad, bad power transfer they gave the President was the power of the 232 tariffs. Those powers to tariff assume a national security issue. It give the President power to protect whatever group of special interest he wishes so long as he calls it a "national security issue".
A challenge to the 232 tariffs is working it's way through the federal court system now.
The republicans that whine about the emergency declaration on the wall and do not whine about the 232 tariffs are hypocrites. (same for the democrats who love the 232 steel tariff their friends democrat Wilbur Ross and Navarro got Trump to punish Americans with to get some union votes.)

quote:trump said himself he didn't like the option and it was a failsafe because he knew congress was going to congress. this is a perfect example of trump blowing up the system of political establishment. this kind of action is exactly the wake up call that america needed. you're right, ideally, you would never want to work it this way.
sets a bad precedent

Leave it to you IB, to somehow take a thread on national emergency and weave in your hate for Wilbur Ross, fess up, did this man do something evil to you as a child? Your obsessional hate borders on clinical.

So we should not have built nukes right. I mean if we built them it set a bad precedent and other countries followed suit, if we had not, the world would be nuke free right?
I mean it worked with trade didnt it? We had the freest market in the world, and all the other countries opened up their markets right?right? didnt they?
I know it worked with Reagan, he offered amnesty for illegals in return for several measures to ensure legal immigration, I mean he got those didnt he, right, am I right?

IB cares more about China than the US

congress was going to congress.
We have checks abs balances laid out in the constitution for a reason the U.S. is not a dictatorship. No matter how much the people who have their guy in power want it to be.
A Democrat majority was elected. This is what America wanted. Just like when Trump was elected. Both sides are going too extreme in today's political climate.
The goalposts have moved so far the argument has gone from "it opens the door for the other side to do it so it's a bad idea"
To "screw it they are going to do it anyway might as well beat them to the punch".

I agree with this but a do nothing Congress put the POTUS in this position

In a remotely perfect world, the Dems would AT A MINIMUM recognize that they had authorized $25M previously (and double that a decade before) and that would be the starting point for negotiations with Trump.
They're so eaten up with TDS though, that they're playing to the most vocal 10% of their party and they don't understand why that repels moderates in droves.

But the emergency declarations that Obama did to do all sorts of non-emergency spending in foreign countries were totes cool.

Obama wanted to “fundamentally change” our nation (his words); trump wants to preserve. BIG difference.

The left has not finished the change of the nation and this is the reason for the hate on Trump and all who support him. Trump is in their way and so are those that would support him. Stand strong and keep smiling.
