The problem with every other "solution" is if someone steps foot on American soil they get to immediately claim asylum.
Sensor, drones, more border agents etc. do not address the first and most important aspect of the problem.
A physical barrier stops the pregnant woman from stepping over the border, spitting out a child and having an anchor baby

The problem with your theory is what most presidents have uses it for haven't even been about the US.
At least Trumps use in this case had to do with the US itself.
