If anyone missed the story.
Zimbabwe was a massive food exporter, but then the president stepped in to expropriate the White owned farms, handing them over to his friends and supporters.
The new owners has little to no experience in farming.

I think there's more to the story than you told.
Didn't white folks smarm to the most fertile lands, and with the help of legislation, take that land as their own?
Then, didn't they pass more and more legislation to further control the money in that country?
Didn't they also keep everything very segregated, with their facilities much better than their black and Asian counterparts?
I think they also legislated that a large portion of the good, fertile land be reserved for white folks.
So, you're chilling at your grandma's farm one day, and a white man, with the support of the government, comes and takes that bitch. They took your cousin's and most of your friend's farms too.
Luckily, they let you live and work on their new farms. The wages sucked, but they are building schools and hospitals and shite.
Oh wait. Those were their schools and hospitals. Well, frick.
At least I've still got my bullshite as paying job on my grandma's old farm. Plus, there is other good lands available; I still have a chance.
Oh wait. Those lands are reserved for those British fricks who keep taking our shite.
At least I've still got my shitty paying job and a place to stay. I guess it's fine that these white fricks have become one of the wealthiest groups of white people in the world.
Ok, these frickers have airplanes and shite now. This shite got out of hand. frick these British frickers.
I could see it. And, if you're honest with yourself, you can see it too.

What is the reason news outlets use? Coincidental drought?

The new President has actually reversed the policies of Mugabe. He issued 99 year leases to the remaining white farmers last year and said evicted white farmers could apply for new leases along with partner with black farmers.
So maybe they’ll get it turned around over there
