Club fitting expectations

I’m going get fitted today with james Leitz. This will be my first club fitting and don’t really know what to expect. I would like to get fitted for my whole bag but know that’s impossible in one session. Should I try to get fitted for irons first? Driver? Or is that something the fitter will determine.

Which do you suck with more?

as of lately my driver. Went on a 6-8 month streak were my driver was the most consistent club in my bag. Now I can’t find it. But I play greystone a bunch so typically tee off with my 4 hybrid. But I def need to be fitted for irons. I do not feel comfortable at all when I have an iron in my hand

Expect to be tired when you’re done. Haha.
Seriously though, try to do everything exactly as you would on the course. You’re going to want to overswing when you see your numbers on the monitor and they aren’t what you think you hit on the course.
Wear your golf shoes. Wear your favorite golf shirt. Try to swing like you would if you were teeing it up on a hole at your home course.
He can’t help you if you try to put on a show.

Just ask him to tell you the story about telling tiger how to hit a cut

How was the fitting?

I was very impressed. James spent ab 2.5hrs with me, fitting me for irons and driver which I was thrilled with. Waiting on him to send me all of my shaft recommendations and quotes- should get them today. Still trying to decide if I should go with the Apex or G410 irons. James recommended the g410 Bc they are more forgiving but I’ve had my heart set on apex and love the feel. Performance wise both were pretty equal- was hitting the g410 7iron ab 185 total and the apex 193 total. I love the all black apex. I’ve been gaming the Callaway razor X blacks so the all black setup catches my eye. Unfortunately, at a 14 handicap I think the g410’s are probably my best bet.
James took 30-45 minutes helping me correct my casting motion. Overall it was an amazing experience.

Hard part about deciding on clubs before getting fitted.
You should love your clubs. Mostly because of how well you hit them. But when you have your heart set on ones that don't quite fit you... you either pick suboptimal clubs because of looks, or don't fully love the ones that fit you because they aren't the "other ones".

yea no doubt.. it’s a tough decision. I know the smart decision is to go with the g410’s. But, I probably won’t be getting new clubs for atleast 5-10 years so that makes me want to go apex.

James is awesome. Took lessons and got fittings from him for a few years.

I have a set of the Apex irons and I love them. I used to be a mizuno guy, but after hitting the Apex irons I'll never go back.

How long did it take to get your results when you were getting fitted? He said he’d get them to me today. Im anxious

Let's be honest here. We're splitting hairs when trying to decide between 2018/2019 clubs.
They are all great clubs.
I'm still playing with some dirt cheap, poor college kid clubs from the early 2000's. And it hasn't stopped me from getting close to touching the single digits.
Lack of practice, not sinking putts, and only playing 1-2 times / month is probably the bigger factor.
You really won't go wrong with either choice.
But I understand your conflict. I'll likely struggle with the same choice myself quite soon.
I think it'll come down to this for me (for you):
1) Is there enough of a performance distance to choose the clubs recommended for me.... or the ones I want?
2) Do I really like the look/feel of the other clubs so much that I can't see myself ever really loving the ones that were my best fit?
If you can easily answer either of those questions, you have your answer.

You must have a pathetic short game and can’t get off the tee.

Yea short game is where I struggle. I typically tee up with a hybrid..

Lol that too. Chasing 3 kids under 7 around town doesn’t help. But I’ve gotten all 3 into golf, some more than the others, so maybe that will help in the long run.

4 green fees
4 cart fees
x 3 times a month... not seeing much benefit in the long run

How long does it normally take to get your clubs in once you’ve been fitted and ordered? I ended up ordering Callaway epic flash woods and epic star hybrids and ping irons. I called and placed the order on Thursday of last week and it still hasn’t hit my card. Starting to get nervous that my clubs won’t be here in time for my tourney the first week of April. After multiple attempts to reach James, he finally responded to an email last night letting me know that the clubs have been ordered. The fitting was a great experience but ordering the clubs from him has been a whole other experience.
