At some point Hughes can’t be in the line up

Can’t be a defensive guy only at LSU. That base running was really bad for a defense only guy.

His defense isn’t worth the hole in the lineup.

The base running on that play could have happened to anyone on the team. My deal with Hughes is you cant tell me he is one of the top 10 to 12 guys on the team.

Respectfully I disagree. It’s a passed ball. He should steal that base easily. Then he can’t make the play on the bunt defensively. That was a tough play but it’s the only reason he’s in the game.

You go stand on first base and hesitate on what you see late and the ball is not as far away from catcher as you think. Like I said could have been anyone on the team.

I agree with you on that. It’s a read. I’m just saying for someone like Hughes he needs to be the best on the team at that. His bat isn’t the strongest so he needs to be elite at the small things on offense. Bunting, sac bunting, reading the pass balls will all earn his spot in the line up. If he’s a liability at those as well then the trade off for defense just doesn’t make sense anymore. I like him and had hope he would develop into a Nola like SS. So far he hasn’t.

You’re statement says it all though. Since when do we allow a guy that sucks at the plate to have a spot in the lineup. He’s in only bc of his dads ties to CPM. He gets the benefit of the doubt while Reid gets cut. CPM needs to figure this out fast. For a team that was supposed to be deep we sure seem thin at a lot of places.
