Hot Take... Chris Reid should start over Hal Hughes. Although Hughes might be a little better defensively I truly believe Chris Reid's bat would be much better over the course of a season.

Yay. It's the first one this season. It took way longer than I expected for someone to announce that Chris Reid, a person who was processed from the team just a few months ago, should be playing every day.

But is his bat that much better? Bc Hughes defense is....
I think we need a superior glove at the hot corner more than we need a slight upgrade at the 8-9 hole

Hughes hit over .300 last week by the way.

These threads are the best. Both because I like Reid and I enjoy the arguing.

Hughes is actually batting .273 now. He's been performing very well in the 7 hole.

CPM has no plans of moving Hughes from 3B.

Which would be better? Hughes at 3rd and Smith at SS or Hughes at SS and Smith at 3rd?

I definitely think he should get some looks against righties to see if he can help during sec play.
Two more conference weekends to do that.

Don't get me started on Bryce Jordan's underappreciated OBP

I hate these threads. Because people make outrageous statements and then claim anyone that takes a more reasonable stance is bashing the player.

Chris Reid should not be starting. It doesn't mean he doesn't have something to contribute to the success of the team.

So you want to pull a defensive specialist that’s batting .273 for a guy with a mediocre bat and a mediocre glove. That makes sense.

This team is averaging over 10 runs a game. Offensive production is not the problem.

So, we should replace Hughes, who is hitting just under .300 so far, and is as solid defensively as they come, with a slower, less talented defensive player, that would likely also hit just under .300? Makes perfect sense.

Chris Reid made 10 errors when he started as a freshman. Hal Hughes started last year and made... 10 errors. Not sure how one can say Hughes' glove is that much better than Reid's. It's all on paper. gimme Reid over Hughes every day of the week.

I could have hit .300 against the last 4 games of competition

(That comment does not mean I endorse the original theme of this thread)

Want to know a little secret, before the Dugas injury, Reid wouldn't have even been a permanent substitute for Hughes at third if anything were to happen. Hell, he still may not be the second option, with Bianco as another option.

No you couldn't. You wouldn't have hit .100.

Had we not lived through Matt Gaudet-mas in 2010, I would tend to agree with you.

You do know they played different positions in those years, right?

And errors aren't a great way to compare players.

Really? Cause Josh Smith has an error at SS. Therefore, Reid should take his place at SS. The numbers don't lie.
