Tis the season — or at least the day — for Pokémon, and Nintendo has announced a “Pokémon Direct” for Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 9:00 a.m. EST or 6:00 a.m. PST. It’s only going to be seven minutes long, but seven minutes is a long time to talk about one franchise, and the odds are more than good that we will finally get our first taste of totally new mainline Pokémon titles for Nintendo Switch.

They need to reverse the trend of shitty Pokemon games. It's been downhill since Black/White. X and Y were a big disappointment and Sun/Moon seemed to take the worst elements of X/Y and double down on them.
I don't give a flipping frick about a story or cutscenes in a Pokemon game. Yet that seems to be the main focus of the last 2 games. Red/Blue and Gold/Silver were excellent games despite a lack of a story. All I want to do is set out, catch Pokemon, battle trainers and gyms, beat the Elite 4, complete the Pokedex, build teams to battle with.
I don't give a frick about cutscenes or some stupid arse story.
Not only that but recently Pokemon games have been brutal with the handholding. Basically the NPC characters tell you what to do, where to go, and give you a million items to heal/help your team to the point there is no reason to go into Poke Marts. There is no challenge anymore. I remember playing Pokemon Red/Blue without internet or a guide and I had to figure that shite out by myself.
And "friendly" rivals is just not fun. Go back to rivals that hate you.
I like the series but after Sun/Moon I was hugely disappointed. Sun/Moon was a chore to finish and was just not a fun game at all. I could never see myself replaying it. With the next Pokemon game, they need to go back to the roots of focusing on gameplay instead of other garbage.

I like the way the world looks. All the starters look tolerable. I'm leaning water, but I'll wait for the final evolutions.
