Expansion dropped last week. Anyone playing this anymore? The new weather mechanics are a pretty big deal, as are some of the new Civs

The Maori are fricking legit on island maps. Mali is fun as shite too.

Enjoying it. I like the new random techs and the rock bands. The new resource mechanic seems okay - haven't played enough to know yet.

frick the new strategic resource mechanic. If you dont land on the right part of the map, you are fricked unless you go on an all out conquest.

I haven't played GS yet, but 6 has really rewarded expansion since the get go. Not saying it is impossible, but I have a really hard time winning playing isolationist.

True, but at the same time, they made the warmonger penalty SO severe that it fricked you for the rest of the game, depending on how peaceful you really wanted to be.

Curious to see how the grievances system changes that now. It may be easier to take a city or two to get the strategic resource you need and then peace out without having the entire world hate you until the end of time.

Early war isn't bad long-term but the way penalties scale as eras progress it can frick you so hard.

That balance is tough to find though.

I usually take over a neighbor REALLY early and it helps a ton.

That's my strategy is typically that of an alien superpower during the first two eras. If I see you, I immediately attack and conquer. I try to eliminate as many civs as possible before the classical era ends.

I've also noticed that when you g ed t in the future era now, civs really, and I mean REALLY hate you if you have a different government. Its ridiculous sometimes.

Is it worth getting Civ 6 if I already have Civ V complete?

I still like 5 more but 6 is fun. My biggest problem with 6 is diplomacy (issue in 5 as well) and some of the civs are so damn OP. Nubia or whatever? If she's in the game she's going to run away with culture and great works. Different strengths and weaknesses are great and all but they get so OP sometimes.

I am being gang raped by the entire world all because I took a city state of an enemy that was being gang raped for taking a city state of mine....I don't remember taking city state's being so damn serious in the past.

Ooh, that's one of those things that make me irrationally angry. I always lose my mind when I see another civ take a city-state. Everything else stops for me until I liberate that city state and raze one of the offending civ's cities.

The Kongo Dude ran a pillager campaign on my arse in the early game, but then I shoved 8 bombers up his arse in the nuclear era

Speaking of bombers, were they this powerful pre-gathering storm? I recall NEVER using air power because it generally sucked, but holy shite are both fighters and bombers powerful against city defenses now.

Bombers were solid and stealth bombers were the tits. If I was behind in a game, stealth bombers were my "catch up". I'd just start smoking cities.

3-4 passes on a level 20 city. They make you God.

I took a whole continent on the huge map in 40 turns

What’s the secret to capturing cities now? Every time I takeover a city it revolts within 10-15 turns and then I have to recapture it. The only solution I’ve figured out is you have to take out 3/4 cities within proximity to have any chance of holding onto an area but I’m hoping someone else figured out a better solution.

If you think the bombers are awesome build the giant death robot and enjoy the show. I had enough nuclear after capturing a couple of nearby city-states to build 3 and promptly destroyed everything in my path, I almost felt bad about it. They destroy everything at land and at sea.
