Why can’t the people of West Virginia learn welding or coding instead?

It pays well. Coal is a great product that is very abundant in the US. And you get to sing some great songs while working.

If this were the Enterprise, posters like you would be relegated to swabbing the holodeck after fleet week simulations.

Well coal is one of our biggest sources of cheap electricity, so we need people to do those jobs.

Because they already know how to do coal. Their daddies, granddaddies and great granddaddies... did coal. West Ferginia is their home.

And for all the Green New Deal fans who can't stand the thought of people with good jobs producing a commodity that we have lots of, it doesn't matter anyway. Regardless of what we do here, the Chinese are going all in on coal and have multiple coal burning power plants in the works.

Sounds brilliant to not use a natural resource that is cheap, efficient, and provides jobs

They don’t need to learn welding or coding because sniveling pussyfarts like you would screech like stuck piggies when the source of power for your little electric cars went away.

I have a buddy who moved from MN to WV. He does the same job but is netting about 20K more of take home pay. He will tell you that, yes people are poorer, but they are much happier and nicer and it’s not even close.
