I have two small blueberry plants now. I do not expect any yield this year because I just planted them. There are some blooms on both plants, however. Should I go ahead and pinch off the blooms so that root growth is encouraged?

Also, what can I put in the soil to make it more acidic?

On the acidic thing, beer grain is quite acidic. If you have any friends that home brew ask them so set aside their beer grain. You could also contact a local brewery and see if they would give you some spent grain.

Pinching them off will help with first year growth for sure.

They have stuff all over amazon for soil acidifiers. Some is labeled as specifically for blue berries. Anything you find for blueberries/azaleas/rhododendron will work.

Edit: I think fresh coffee grounds work too? I haven’t done it personally though.

not sure what kind of blueberry plants you got. But some need a different type of blueberry for pollination... in vase you got the same kinds

I think pine straw is the same as coffee grounds in that it won’t do any good unless it’s fresh.

Where are you located and have you done a soil test so you know your pH?

Plant at least 6 and have at least 2 varieties. The more variety and number of plants the better.
